Quarters: Heidberg
Living in the Heidberg
Every year in August, a big brunch is held in Heidberg. The meadow in front of St. Thomas is full of originally decorated tables. Food and drinks are brought along. There is also live music, activities for children and a flea market.
Such events help to ensure that many neighbors in the district know each other well. For example, there is also an annual health day, a walking group, intercultural breakfast groups and an open living room in the district.
Community in the south A lively and well-connected neighborhood
The many committed institutions, associations and companies in the south of Braunschweig are well networked. The AWO district project Heidberg Aktiv, the network "Gesund älter werden im Heidberg" and the team from the neighbourhood store organize many events together. You can drop by spontaneously for games afternoons, bingo, handicraft groups and movie nights.
If you take a stroll through the central shopping center on Erfurtplatz, you will often see residents of the neighborhood in conversation - in the stores, where many are greeted by name, at the weekly market, in the Turkish Bistro 54, in the pizzeria and ice cream parlor or in three bakery-cafés. Nobody has to drive into town for their daily errands. In Heidberg there are three supermarkets, a health food and medical supply store, hairdressers, chemists, banks and pharmacies, an optician, a florist, a butcher's shop with a lunch counter and much more, such as a nail salon, a driving school and a veterinary clinic.

Heidberg Quality of life in green
Many Heidberg residents have been rooted in the neighborhood for decades. Recently, more and more families with children have been moving in. In addition to the excellent infrastructure, the quiet location, the large amount of green space and the leisure facilities are also appreciated. With the Heidbergsee lake and the large Heidbergpark with walking paths, running trails and an open-air fitness circuit, recreation and fitness are just around the corner. The Heidberg sports pool with sauna area and massages is also a special attraction. The Melverode-Heidberg sports club offers soccer, Zumba, aerobics, darts and health sports. The Heidberg children's and youth center offers concerts, cinema, disco as well as building, handicrafts, sports and cooking activities.
Heidberg, where the BBG manages around 700 apartments, also has a boules court and a district library - and good transport links to the city center. You can reach the city center or popular meeting places such as the Applaus-Garten and Bürgerpark quickly by public transport and via the B36 freeway.
