Quarters: Melverode
Living in Melverode
You can often watch sailing ships in Melverode. The Südsee with its sandy beach is a popular destination. Walkers, joggers and inline skaters can be found here. At the beginning of January, hundreds of people come together for the New Year's run, and in summer bands and DJs entertain at the Südsee Open Air. In the vicinity of the sailing club, which organizes regattas four times a year, nature lovers also use the almost 54-hectare area.
Quality of life with tradition Local recreation, infrastructure & leisure for all generations
In addition to this special local recreation, the former ducal village, which was incorporated into the city of Braunschweig in 1934, is characterized by a very good infrastructure and leisure facilities for all generations. A central meeting point is the shopping center in Görlitzstraße, including a Görge fresh food market. Melverode also has excellent medical care - for example at the Herzogin Elisabeth Hospital - an all-day elementary school and a lively club scene. The Melverode-Heidberg sports club offers soccer, Zumba, aerobics, darts and health sports. The Melverode local fire department invites people to an annual Christmas tree toss with pea soup and mulled wine in January. The Hubertus Melverode shooting club from 1922 regularly organizes a folk and shooting festival and erects a maypole.

Adventure and tranquillity Fun, games and living comfort
And then there is another meeting place that children and young people really appreciate. The Melverode adventure playground is a bit like Bullerbü: with goats, chickens and guinea pigs, stalls, a construction playground, a water and mud area and a clay oven - plenty of space for adventures in nature.
The BBG manages around 400 apartments in the quiet neighborhood. It is well connected to the city center by public transport and the federal highway 36.
