Quarters: Querum
Living in Querum
The settlement of Querum was first mentioned in documents in 1148. The traditional village was incorporated into Braunschweig in 1934. People who live here enjoy a quiet life surrounded by greenery. With the Schunterwiesen meadows and Querumer Forst - the largest contiguous forest area in Braunschweig - the surrounding area offers attractive nature.
Conviviality and tradition Club life Community events for all ages
Querum also stands for sociability. There is a lively club life in the north-east of Braunschweig. SV Querum, for example, has around 600 members. Here you can play soccer, basketball, badminton and table tennis or meet up for Zumba, disco dancing and children's gymnastics, accompanied by barbecue evenings, family hikes and asparagus trips. The local fire department, which has been active for over 150 years, also has many leisure clubs - as well as interesting competitions and trips. The Querum Shooting Club of 1874, meanwhile, offers training with air guns, light rifles, muzzleloaders and small and large caliber weapons. The club's figurehead is the national league archers. Every year in November, the traditional Hubertus shooting is held at the clubhouse.

A neighborhood full of life Celebrations, sport and creativity
The biggest events in the district have their own fairground. The three-day Oktoberfest features rides, stalls and a large tent on Dibbesdorfer Straße. DJs and cheerleaders perform, children can ride ponies, there are demonstrations by clubs, a festive breakfast and a raffle. In summer, the fairground is then transformed into a medieval market: with jugglery, live music, martial arts, arts and crafts, food and drink - for three days.
In addition to such special events, the neighborhood, in which the BBG manages around 50 apartments, also offers a much-used meeting place. More than ten leisure groups meet in Bevenroder Strasse: for example, for sitting gymnastics, to play the guitar and harmonica and as a starting point for Nordic walking. The Querum youth center is right next door. In the half-timbered house, people cook together, there are free music lessons, a table football table, table tennis tables, a youth café and activities for all interests. Mario Kart tournaments, carving, journaling, fire-drilling, making stretcher frames and bead pictures: That's just a small selection.

Excellent supply From supermarkets to exceptional ice cream
Querum also offers a wide range of shops for everyday needs: supermarkets, a drinks market, bakeries, pharmacies and banks as well as a post office and services ranging from driving schools to hairdressers. The best-known store is probably Scholz's Icecream. It also sells unusual varieties such as cucumber, peach cookies and black sesame. The good infrastructure also includes a weekly market with up to 30 stalls, a medical and therapy center as well as daycare centers, an elementary school and an integrated comprehensive school.
