Quarters: Sackring district
Living in the Sackring district
On some days, you can see neighbors drumming together in the Sackring district. Relaxed groups chat about a book over snacks and drinks, knit and cook together or meet up for qigong. There has been a central meeting point in the neighborhood for such activities since 2024. Anyone can help shape the program and volunteer at the BBG neighbourhood meeting point. For example, there is also a parent-child breakfast, a toddler group, a coffee and games group and a women's meeting place. All offers are free of charge - from neighbors for neighbors - and are coordinated by a neighborhood manager.
Culinary diversity In the middle of Braunschweig
When the afternoon program at the neighbouring elementary school is over, children often stop off at Bürgerstraße 9 to play table football before heading home with their parents - or on to Da Capo directly opposite. The Italian bistro in Alerdsweg offers coffee, sandwiches, filled croissants, sandwiches and wrap sandwiches from seven o'clock during the week. Changing dishes are served at lunchtime, announced on a blackboard. In the warmer months, you can also sit outside and chat. Alternatively, there are two restaurants with Greek specialties, a pizzeria and a kebab takeaway in the Sackring district, as well as a varied fresh selection in two food markets and a bakery.

From antique store to swap store A neighborhood with charm
The Evangelical Lutheran church community Die Brücke also provides a variety of leisure activities. The large congregation offers playgroups, choirs, music groups, concerts, excursions, gymnastics and handicrafts. Or would you prefer sport? With Eintracht Braunschweig, SV Olympia '92 and TuRa 1865, there are three clubs offering sports activities close to home, from tennis to beach volleyball.

Living, learning, living In the thick of it and well connected
The Sackringviertel, in which BBG manages around 1,200 apartments, is named after the bag-shaped layout of the old district. Many residents have lived here for decades. The central location is also appreciated. You can get anywhere quickly, so to speak - well connected by cycle paths, public transport and the Braunschweig ring road. The city center is just a few minutes away, and the university district and the University of Fine Arts are also within easy reach. Families with children benefit from short distances to kindergartens, the Bürgerstraße elementary school and the Hoffmann-von-Fallersleben-Gymnasium, an open all-day school. There is also a special playground and youth center. An attractive meeting place has been created on Madamenweg: with a soccer and basketball court, play equipment and a trampoline.
